Taylor Guitars

Over spring break my Dad flew my girlfriend and I out to San Diego to visit. His girlfriend was really nice and set up a tour a Taylor Guitars with Mike Mosely, one of their designers. We took a group tour at 10 and I was floored by how much stock they had. They said they produce about 150 guitars a day. Rachel told me I was looking at all the parts as if they were going to waste by sitting there. It's true. There were hundreds of necks and bodies just laying there.

Everything these guys do, is top notch. Their wood is sorted and matched beautifully. They use the most advanced tools a lot of which they invented, for instance their side benders.

After group touch, Mike found me and asked what I wanted to see. I said, "What can you show me?" He was really nice and took me all over. I got to see people making jig for their machines. Almost everything they use is made right there.

Taylor has invented these acoustic pickups that sound amazing. When you look at how they work its no wonder. Its a magnet suspended in ferrofluid inside of cylinder surrounded by a copper coil. This is mounted in strategic places on the soundboard to give the fullest tone, and boy does it. If I ever become a professional guitar player, Taylor all the way man.
